Ancient Armstrong Tartan – Woven in Scotland
Celebrate Border heritage, and the return of the Armstrong Clan Association in June 2026 we have commissioned a bale of your Ancient Armstrong Tartan, (10oz lightweight, known as Reiver Tartan) traditionally woven in the Scottish Borders by Lochcarron of Scotland – one of the country’s most respected tartan manufacturers.
The Reiver (10oz lightweight) Armstrong Ancient tartan will be sold in two or three metre lengths, and if ordered and paid it will be ready for collection at the Armstrong Clan Association gathering weekend. We understand that a bale is currently 58m of cloth in length and will take up to 12 weeks from date of order for to be woven.
Inspired by historic Armstrong colours, this lighter “Ancient” palette reflects the softer vegetable dyes once used in early Highland and Border dress. The result is a timeless tartan that feels both authentic and beautifully wearable today.
Each length is crafted using traditional weaving techniques, making it ideal for clan gatherings, formal wear, interior décor, or as a meaningful gift for anyone with Armstrong connections.

And of course no shipping fee to pay plus take advantage of any discounts we may have running at the time of purchase.
