Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have the necessary resources to support family research at Gilnockie Tower. Our archive will be digitised and made available to all in the not too distant future. However, we encourage you to explore the provided links for helpful guidance on pursuing your family research.
Certainly! Absolutely, Gilnockie Tower has been the venue for numerous joyous celebrations. To inquire about hosting your special day with us, kindly reach out to gt@gilnockietower.co.uk, and one of our team members will promptly respond with the details on how we can make your wedding memorable. Our Licence only allows us 40 participants, so we specialise in smaller intimate events.
If you're wondering about the location of Gilnockie Tower on the A7, you'll find it nestled and signposted between Canonbie and Langholm along the Tourist Route. Its placement depends on the direction you're travelling, either towards Edinburgh or Carlisle.

Because of our footprint we only offer ‘cash and carry’ hot drinks and a wide range of sweet biscuits. We also have inside seating for around 12 people and picnic tables are available on the adjacent grassy areas.
A lot depends on how interested you are in the subject matter, however, in our experience it ranges between 40 minutes and 1 hour. Any special events of course can extend that timeline.
The only time any part of the museum is closed is if we are renovating part of a display or we have technical difficulties. If that happens the event would be advertised on our website. On occasions, and at short notice, we have to close the upper and outer walkway, due to inclement weather conditions.
We are open 7 days a week, 10.00am until 4.00pm April until end October every season.
